# The local government election results are in with 97 percent of the votes counted and a formal announcement is expected today. It’s clear that the political landscape has changed. The ANC has received 45 percent of the vote, the DA got 21 percent, the EFF received 10 percent, the IFP comes in at 5 percent, and the Freedom Front Plus 2 percent. It’s the ANC’s lowest level of support since the country became a democracy in 1994 and political analyst professor Dirk Kotzé says it shows the governing party is losing political dominance:
