# South Africa’s first electric minibus taxi is expected to arrive before the end of the year and can unlock many benefits for the industry and the country. A project team of companies and research institutions is investigating the vehicle’s feasibility in South African conditions. The CEO and founder of the mobility platform GoMetro, Justin Coetzee says the partners have a shared vision:

He says they plan to do testing on local roads next year.

When fully charged the vehicle has a range of 200 kilometres. It can be charged at any time and they believe load-shedding is not a risk to feasibility. He says they will be taking the minibus taxi on an educational roadshow to all nine provinces:
