# It’s National Diabetes Month. An estimated 4 point 5 million South Africans have diabetes with many remaining undiagnosed. Diabetes is also the leading cause of death in women in the country and the second leading cause of death overall. Diabetes South Africa’s national manager, Margot McCumisky says the country faces many challenges in combating diabetes including a lack of government funding:
